Transgender models in the World
1. Andrej Pejic- Australia
Australia’s Andrej Pejic is one of the well-known transgender models in the world. In 2011, during Stylenite (a cultural event organised by Berlin’s fashion designer Michael Michalsky), Andrej had walked in a catwalk show both in masculine and feminine clothes. At the same time, Models.com’s ranked Andrej at18 number in their Top 50 Models list. She also ranked at 98th number among the “100 Sexiest Women in the World 2011” by FHM magazine.
2. Lea T.- Brazil
The Brazilian transgender fashion model Lea T was born in 1981. Gender issues have not prevented her from becoming one of the most well-known transgender models in the world today. She was a brand ambassador of Givenchy which is a French luxury fashion and perfume house. Currently, she endorses American hair-care brand Redken.
3. Claudia Charriez- United States
In 2006, Claudia Charriez made it to the semi-final of America’s Next Top Model hosted by Tyra Banks but disqualified for being transgender. Tyra Banks then declared Claudia “America’s Next Top Transgender”. Later Tyra Banks invited Claudia on her talk show “The Tyra Banks Show”.
4. Isis King, United States
Isis King was born in the United States in 1985. She was a contestant of America’s Next Top Model season 11 and 17. Also, she created history to become the first trans woman to compete on the show.
5. Florencia De La V, Argentina
The Argentine model Florencia De La V was born in 1976. She started cross-dressing at the age of 16. As one of the world’s best-known transgender models, she has appeared in serials, fashion magazines, and as editor of magazines. Moreover, she is currently married to a man and raises twins through surrogacy.
6. Sirapassorn Atthayakorn- Thailand
Thailand’s Sirapassorn Atthayakorn (popularly known as Sammy) won the Miss International Queen in 2011. Miss International Queen is the largest beauty pageant for transgender women. In fact, it is an International transgender beauty contest.
7. Chamila Asanka, Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan model Chamila Asanka is getting better and better in the modelling world. She was also a participant of Miss International Queen in 2011.
8. Caroline Cossey- United Kingdom
The British model Caroline Cossey is one of the renowned transgender models. In 1991 she was featured in a Playboy magazine and became a first trans woman to pose for such magazine. Later she wrote and published own book with a title “I Am a Woman” describing herself as a transgender.
9. Roberta Close- Brazil
Brazilian model Roberta Close became the first transgender to pose for the Brazilian edition of Playboy. Close underwent sex reassignment surgery in 1989. Afterwards, featured in the Brazilian men’s magazine and voted the “Most Beautiful Woman in Brazil.”
10. Malika- India
Indian model Malika underwent numerous sex reassignment surgeries and medications. Also, in 2011 she became first Indian to participate in the Miss International Queen.
