A healthy weight for a successful pregnancy
Have a healthy weight before pregnancy. If you are all set to become pregnant, you must achieve standard weight. If you are thin or overweight, the chances of having a successful pregnancy will reduce at large.
Thin women should pay more attention to the intake of high-quality protein and fat-rich foods (especially rich in phospholipids and long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids). Obese women should actively control calorie intake while eating less weighty, sweet foods, and strive to reduce weight to normal.
Nutrients of a successful pregnancy
1.Folic acid for successful pregnancy
Folic acid is the most significant nutrient to consume during pregnancy. It contains vitamin B. It is recommended to consume 400 μg of folic acid daily starting from 3 months before pregnancy and continue throughout pregnancy.
Additionally, folic acid helps to prevent fetal neural tube defects and is beneficial in reducing the risk of dyslipidemia in pregnancy. Many nutritional supplements contain folic acid, consider consuming such supplements.

Expectant mothers should not eat the following foods.
- Coffee: During the gestation period, drinking an excessive amount of caffeine increases the risk of miscarriage and low birth weight.
- Sweets: Sweets have high-fat, high-calorie substances. Consuming an excessive amount of sweets can easily cause weight gain, affecting blood sugar, which is not good for pregnancy.
- Stop taking contraceptive pills and other drugs six months before pregnancy. Limit the exposure to the toxic and harmful environment, and reduce contact with pets.
Both men and women must adjust their day-to-day routine and build a healthy lifestyle. They should sleep early and wake up early. Eight to ten hours sleep is must along with daily work-out and rest.
As a man, you must avoid smoking ensuring a balanced diet and intake of essential nutrients such as protein, vitamins and minerals every day.
